A milestone on the path: completing Level 4 Counselling Skills

This week I received my certificate and transcript for my Level 4 Counselling Skills course. It feels like an important marker on a path that has challenged me, stretched me and taught me a great deal about myself.

I’m delighted to have achieved Firsts in both modules. I’m proud of those results, but the part I have valued most has been the experiential nature of the learning. Counselling skills cannot simply be understood from a textbook. They ask us to participate, reflect, practise and remain open to what we notice in ourselves and in our connections with other people.

More than anything, this course has confirmed that beginning the BA (Hons) in Humanistic Counselling this September is exactly the right next step for me.

It has also given me confidence in my ability to study at university level—something I once never imagined I would be able to do. That change in how I see myself may be one of the most meaningful parts of this stage of the journey.

I have had the privilege of learning alongside some wonderful humans. I’m deeply grateful to my tutors, peers, friends and family for their encouragement, honesty and support along the way. Learning in relationship with others has made the experience richer than I could have expected.

There is still a long path ahead, and I know it will contain difficult ground as well as rewarding moments. For now, I’m pausing to notice this milestone and to feel proud of how far I have already walked.

I can’t wait to see where the next chapter leads. One step at a time. 🧡
