What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by a website. Similar technologies can also store or read information on a device. They can support essential features, remember choices or measure how a site is used.
What this site currently uses
Walking the Chalk Path does not currently use advertising, visitor analytics or marketing cookies. Public visitors are not asked to create an account and comments are switched off.
The site may use strictly necessary technology for:
- Security: Wordfence and the web host may use technical identifiers to detect malicious traffic, protect login areas and keep the site available.
- WordPress administration: WordPress may set a test cookie on the login page and login or display-preference cookies for authorised administrators. These are not used to track ordinary visitors for advertising.
- Your requested actions: the site search uses the words you enter to return results. It does not need an advertising or analytics cookie.
Instagram feed
The Instagram carousel is provided through the Smash Balloon plugin. In the site’s current configuration, the feed is rendered on this website rather than through an Instagram login frame, and no Instagram tracking cookie is intentionally placed by the feed itself. If you select an Instagram post or link, you leave this site and Meta may use cookies under its own terms.
Why there is no consent banner
UK rules allow technology that is strictly necessary to provide or secure a service requested by the visitor without prior consent, although clear information should still be provided. Because this site currently uses no optional analytics, advertising or marketing technology, it does not display a cookie consent banner.
If an optional tool is added later, this notice will be updated and any technology requiring consent will be blocked until the visitor makes a clear choice.
Managing cookies
You can use your browser settings to view, delete or block cookies. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect login or security functions, but should not prevent ordinary reading of the public pages.
